The Park Avenue Cafe, A Shadowrun Place

<p><span>The Space</span>:<br /> <strong>The Park Avenue Cafe</strong> is in the center of the <em>Prosperity Towers</em> office park in Renton. The office park consists of four twelve-story towers each loated at the corner of a square, between the towers are parking lots, and in the center, there is a small park are with a cafe and that cafe is the <strong>Park Avenue Cafe</strong>.</p>
<p>The entire office park is surrounded by a four-meter PlastiLink fence topped with razor wire with a gate opening into each parking lot, though the gates are usually left open during business hours (7am-7pm). The light poles in the parking lots, utilitarian, and in the park, fancy, are topped with camera units. Security is provided by <em>Eagle Security</em> who have its main office in Tower A, with seven or eight officers on duty, including a drone operator and security decker. Three officers are stationed in each of the other towers and in a station in the park. Two to three quadcopters are usually up in the air monitoring the traffic and a single armed rotor-drone is available for emergency response. Except during rush hour, a watcher spirit patrols the area, observing for magical sabotage.</p>
<p><strong>The Park Avenue Cafe</strong> has two sections: A <em>coffee bar</em> which also sells prepackaged snacks and food, open 5am-11pm on Weekdays, and 7am-8pm on Weekends And the cafe proper open from 6am-7pm on Weekdays and 11am-3pm on Weekends, which sells proper meals.</p>
<p>The <em>coffee bar</em> is a minimalist area with a serving area, a few HardPlaz counters with adjustable stools, and a set of TriD screens showing weather and news. The <em>coffee bar</em> usually has two staff working it, with an additional person during rush periods.</p>
<p>The <em>cafe</em> area is nicer with both indoor and outdoor (but covered) seating done up in a clean corporate style with current pop playing softly. It has a small kitchen.</p>
<p><span>The Food and Drink</span>:</p>
<p><strong>The Park Avenue Cafe</strong> is a purveyor of average above-average food and better coffee. The <em>cafe</em> does nothing fancy but their grilled cheese sandwiches and salmon burgers are well regarded. The <em>cafe</em> sells a considerable amount of take-out food to the local office workers who do not have time for a sit-down meal.</p>
<p>The <em>coffee stand</em> produces uniformly good coffee, with good donuts and pastries from a local bakery, though the prepackaged foods are just that and unexceptional.</p>
<p><span>The Other</span>:</p>
<p>The <em>coffee stand</em> also has a license to sell “productivity drugs”: such as <em>cram, long haul, psyche</em>, even <em>novacoke</em> to those with the right permission. They do a brisk business to the workers at the local companies.</p>
<p><span>Entertainment</span>:</p>
<p>The park occasionally hosts musical events, usually performed by school groups supported by one of the small companies with offices in the tower.</p>
<p><span>Staff and Regulars</span>:</p>
<p>The current owner of the <strong>Park Avenue Cafe</strong> is <strong>Rinola Slim-Ctha</strong>, a serial entrepreneur who knew a good business opportunity when she saw it. It is simply part of her portfolio and she rarely stops by.</p>
<p>The on-site manager is <strong>Kongo Jackson-Black</strong>, former University of Washington running back who was not quite good enough for the majors, luckily, he had earned a business degree and fell into the job here. He keep telling himself it is temporary but he rather likes the moderate level of stress and he listens to the regulars and has made some solid investments from that knowledge. <strong>Kongo</strong> is an athletic African-American, he still keeps himself in top shape. his hair is close-cropped and he recently has a set of cybereyes installed. He is very gregarious and makes sure to work a shift in each the cafe and <em>coffee stand</em> weekly.</p>
<p><strong>Lacey Oliveira</strong> is in charge of the <em>coffee stand</em>, she is working on her pharmaceutical degree in her spare time and oversees the sale of productivity drugs. <strong>Lacey</strong> is very careful, making sure people are aware of the dangers of mis- and overuse of the drugs they sell. She is a slightly plump young woman who shifts from serious to laughter in a split second, her dark brown hair is long and usually tied back and her eyes brown. She is a great mystery fan and often found talking such with the patrons.</p>
<p><strong>James “Jimmy” Oppendorfer</strong><strong> </strong>handles carryout orders and deliveries. Jimmy is a former skate punk turned courier turned delivery person. He is a slim fellow and wears street fashion, as much as he can, while on the job. <strong>Jimmy</strong>‘s ratty light brown hair is usually under a ball cap and his green eyes behind round glasses. He is a chatty fellow and also a dealer of less legal drugs, especially deepweed.</p>
<p>There are other staff members: barista, kitchen staff, and waitstaff. They get <em>Clean Green</em> cleaning service in after hours on Sunday to give the place a thorough clean before the week starts. Security is provided by <em>Eagle Security</em> as it is for the rest of the area.</p>
<p><span>Campaign uses</span>:</p>
<p>The <strong>Park Avenue Cafe</strong> is a good place if you need to ‘accidentally’ run into someone working in the <em>Prosperity Towers</em> or if you need to arrange a meeting with someone working there.</p>
<p>It is a good central point for watching the <em>Prosperity Towers</em> or the surrounding area.</p>
<p><em>Notes</em>: One of those places that is more important for where it is located than what it is. It showed up in a recent mission where the team had to hit an office in <em>Prosperity Tower C</em>.</p>
